BSP students were admitted to the 2010 Financial Markets Institute (FMI)

Three BSP students (Mike Dimitrov (EBSO Vice President), Michael Cotant, and Sean Darin) were admitted to the FMI on April 13th. To be admitted the applicants write a statement of purpose, interview with the institute’s directors, and respond to questions from a panel of current scholars. Key factors considered include academic performance, active involvement in on- or off-campus activities, work experience and a demonstrated passion for the financial markets. The successful candidates are typically those who have met with the directors and scholars many times in advance of their application.

2008 Recipient of the Lewis Quality of Excellence Award

“Congratulations! On behalf of the Alumni Board of Directors of The Eli Broad College of Business and Graduate School of Management, it is my pleasure to inform you that the Broad Scholar Program has been selected to receive a 2008 Richard J. Lewis Quality of Excellence Award.

The Lewis Quality Award, established by the Broad Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1995, is an annual recognition of the best quality improvement projects or activities in the Broad School. The awards are made each year to the top projects as ranked by members of a board evaluation committee. Nominations are evaluated on the basis of seven characteristics: innovation, entrepreneurship, teamwork, demonstrated improvement, accomplishment of stated objectives, clarity of communication, and support of the mission and goals of the Broad School.

Winners will be honored guests at the Broad School Awards Program and Faculty, Staff and Families Dinner on August 26, 2008 at the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development. The Lewis Quality Award winning projects are displayed on the Quality of Excellence plaque in the Business Complex. Individual Plaques are presented in ceremonies at the faculty staff event in August.

The Alumni Board is pleased to recognize the outstanding and innovative work in enhancing the educational experience of Broad School students.”

The Lewis Quality Award includes a monetary award of $750. Ed Batayeh has chosen to allocate the entire amount to the Eli Broad Scholar Organization (EBSO). I am very proud of the EBSO Executive Board and general membership for their dedication and commitment to leadership and professional development. I believe EBSO is an integral part of the Scholar experience and this money will support their programming efforts. Congratulations again!
