The Residential Business Program was honestly one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my entire life. It provided me with some of the best friends I have here at Michigan State, and presented an opportunity for me to grow not only in my intended marketing career path, but also in the business career path as a whole. Living together was a tremendous experience that helped us all bond closer to one another, and its excellent location gave us a leg up on our other classmates who lived in Brody, and Holden, for example. The RBP surrounded me with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, and helped me achieve a spot on the Dean’s List both semesters of my Freshman year. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and experience I had with the RBP, and it’s something I will cherish for the rest of my life.

The Residential Business Program has given me opportunities and advantages that no other business students have. I learned early on the importance of internships, proper business wear, and valuable campus resources, however most importantly, I have made great friends. The RBP is not only a title, it is a group of people working together to be successful. An example of this cooperation was when several of us went to the Diversity Career Fair. Someone realized I still had tags on my new suit, which was followed by everyone surrounding me and helping me remove them. This teamwork continued as I later forgot my padfolio at the career fair and was able to call a RBP member to grab it for me. Being in the RBP, you take for granted the knowledge you have of business. RBP members are not only distinguishable on a professional level, but noticeable through their everyday behaviors and actions.

The Residential Business Program made my freshman a great experience. From meeting friends in the first week, to small RBP classes, the program makes you feel like a part of a community. With employers, BRP makes you a stand out, and is the reason why I received an internship freshman year. Amy and the staff work hard to make this program beneficial, and I would not be where I am today if I was not part of the BRP.

The Residential Program gave me the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally. It gave me the chance to befriend other freshmen business students that also shared a passion for business. Looking back, I am grateful for the opportunity to have met these students as they are now my closet friends. The Residential Program also allows students to sharpen their professional skills by offering opportunities to network with BFP alumni, distinguished faculty and working professionals. The program teaches the necessary skill set to be successful in the business world.

Being a part of the Residential Program made Michigan State seem like a smaller campus. I now know many people in my classes and I see familiar faces everywhere I go. It’s really nice to be able to walk into a classroom on the first day and see 10 people you know because you were a part of the Broad Freshman Program.

The Broad Residential Program is a business community to meet long-lasting friends, an opportunity to prepare one’s self for the business world during and after college, in addition to offering chances to set one’s self apart from the rest of the students in the business college.

Senior (December 2012 Graduation)
When I was a freshman at Michigan State in the Residential Program, I would always hear freshmen from outside the program saying they were lost, bored, and didn’t have a sense of their future goals. I never had that experience because the program immediately connected me with people in a close knit dorm community, introduced me to the Broad College’s student organizations and advisors, and gave me professional advice through the Business Seminars that I still cling to as a senior getting ready to graduate this December 2012.

One of things I most enjoyed about the Residential Program was the lasting relationships that formed during the year. I instantly made friends who I now consider to be some of my closest. Living, studying, socializing and having classes with all the same people really forges a bond that is hard for other residential programs to beat.

I am originally from East Lansing so having the opportunity to become part of a family my freshman year made my experience at MSU life changing. I have met my past/future roommates, study abroad partner, as well as created many lifelong friendships through the Residential Program. I am so thankful for the opportunities I received through this program, including those beyond my freshman year!

It is hard to put into words how thankful I am for the Residential Program. It helped me find my way freshman year at MSU and encouraged me to get involved and meet people with similar interests to mine. I owe a lot of my successes in and out of the classroom to the amazing advisors, professors, mentors and friends I met through the Residential Program.

The Residential Program jump started my college career and aided me in obtaining the top internships in my field. This program helped me find and utilize all the great resources from MSU that it would have taken me years to figure out. I am where I am today with amazing internship offers and future job opportunities because of it.
